I ordered a second pair (in sage) when I got my dog, since I often walk my dog through wet grass, so I am wearing them daily. (Although not much arch support if that is important to you.) A year later, the treads on the bottom have worn a bit but they are still in good shape and I've gotten a ton of use out of them as I live in the Pacific Northwest. They kept my feet very dry while we were out waling in the rain, and are comfortable enough for all day wear. I bought my first pair (in black) last fall for a trip to Scotland. Overall, the size 6 shoe was just a bit wider, even with a thick sock. The size 6 length oddly seemed the same as the 5-1/2, as to where my big toe hit the toe box. The size 6, my normal size, was not snug enough for my narrow heels, even with a thicker sock. I do like a good arch support, this shoe is in the mid range, but considering it is a casual shoe, with great style, it is acceptable enough for me. I do agree that I would prefer the height of the toe box to be ever so slightly higher, but again the thin sock helped with this. I do have a bunion on my slightly larger left foot, but found the shoe fabric accommodates this sufficiently, without pinching. Regarding some reviews with an “ankle bone issue” - I too experienced it - but was easily remedied by loosening/adjusting, ever so slightly, the shoe laces. Having a very narrow heel, this size fits great in that area too. The "Half Size Smaller” 5-1/2 is the keeper! Fits good ONLY if I wear a very thin sock. I really appreciate that you sell larger sized shoes and I love your style, Sorel! But the styles aren't translating to the larger sizes and I'm considering returning them.Īfter reading the reviews, I ordered both my normal size 6 & along with a half size smaller, 5-1/2. When you compare the photos you really see the difference how angular the tread is in smaller shoes vs. I added a photo to show the difference - the shoes on the site have the tread practically touching the dip in the leather, but on my shoes there's a 1/2 inch difference. Granted, it's a slight difference, but to large footed people a slight elevation in the heel makes a big difference and would be appreciated. This is due to the tread that covers the bottom of the shoe coming up the side of the shoe farther on the smaller shoes (but not the larger shoes), making the heel look more elevated and smaller. They were true to size, very comfortable, and great quality, however I wear a size 11 and in the larger sizes the design of the shoe changes enough that it's not as cute and makes your foot look very flat-footed. Was really looking forward to receiving these sneakers, I agonized online over what color to get and ended up with Elk - great choice, lovely color.
There were no reviews when I ordered, that's why I ordered two sizes. I recommend but you need to know it's totally over-sized. I do like the support the back of this sneaker gives, as it looks like the sneaker will last a long while-waterproof as well. Quality is good & this shoe will be waterproof & good for the trail. Also, you would need the inserts if you do a lot of walking-it's not a running sneaker. Details state mild arch support but there is no arch support so if you are used to inserts then that might work & make the shoe a smaller fit. It's a wide shoe for a medium size & no worries about the toe box area because the rest of the shoe is so large. The 11 has to go! It's like two inches too long. I haven't decided yet whether to keep the 10 1/2 or not since it runs so large, even with socks with an inch left over in length. The Sage is somewhere between a green & gray, just a nice color. The sneaker is Very Oversized from 1/2" to 1 1/2" honest. I bought this sneaker in two sizes, my usual sneaker size 10 1/2 (sage) & an 11 (black) which is the size I wear in Sorel boots.
